This past weekend we celebrated Poppy’s first birthday! We had spent the last few weeks working on our back garden getting it ready for the big day but as nature would have it Toronto decided to unleash a fury of rain on us instead of the sunshine we had hoped for. After a few tears I quickly changed gears and began set up…. inside.

As a first time mama to a little girl, I had Poppy’s birthday outfit picked out six months ago but made the last minute decision to toss the fluffy dress and replaced it with a swimsuit – I know if Poppy could talk she would have thanked me.  The heat/humidity was a little overwhelming and I’m pretty sure every guest was more than a little uncomfortable but you never would have known it. The day was filled with smiles and laughter. In the end Poppy was showerd not only with rain but a ton of love and quite a few gifts…her favourite of course being the tissue paper and ribbons.
